ACPD Wraps Up “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” Campaign

The Arkansas City Police Department recently concluded its participation in the “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” enforcement campaign, which ran for two and a half weeks. During this period, officers conducted overtime saturation patrols to aggressively enforce Kansas' impaired driving laws and improve roadway safety.

As a result of the campaign, officers conducted 39 vehicle stops. These efforts resulted in one safety belt citation, 10 speeding citations, and 48 additional citations and arrests.

Chief Jim Holloway emphasized the importance of enforcement, stating, “If you were stopped during this campaign, we hope you learned from the experience. Our department will continue to vigorously enforce impaired driving and all Kansas traffic laws — not just during this campaign, but throughout the year. These laws exist to protect everyone we share the road with.”

The department reminds drivers that impaired driving is a choice — and it’s the wrong one. Motorists are urged to make safe decisions and always wear their seat belts.

“Your seat belt is your best defense against impaired drivers. Every trip, every time,” Holloway added.

The Arkansas City Police Department remains committed to roadway safety and will continue proactive enforcement efforts to keep the community safe.
