Schools & Crime Prevention

The Arkansas City Police Department staffs two full-time School Resource Officers.  One officer is assigned to each, the Arkansas City High School and the Arkansas City Middle School.
These officers work closely with Unified School District 470 staff to help create a safe learning environment and facilitate effective prevention programs to include Students Against Deadly Decisions (S.A.D.D.) and Seatbelts Are For Everyone (S.A.F.E.).
They also plan an annual New Year's Eve party for high school to provide a safe and healthy alternative.

These officers deliver the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program to students in grades fifth and seventh within the Arkansas City school district.

The School Resource Officers are also responsible for planning the annual D.A.R.E. Camp during the summer.
The week long, fun and educational camp, is geared toward middle school students.
They additionally plan National Night Out which is a national crime prevention event to encourage police/community relations with a special emphasis on getting to know your neighbors.
