D.A.R.E. Camp

D.A.R.E.

D.A.R.E. camp is a week long summer day camp that is provided to students going into 6th-8th grade. This camp is free to the students that wish to attend.

The camp is not only geared to creating and maintaining connections with the youth of Ark City, but to help educate them about issues that they will face in the upcoming years.

Officers play games and different activities with students as well as educate them about law enforcement careers.

Each day of the camp, there are guest speakers that cover topics such as:

  • Decision making skills
  • Social media education
  • Sexting
  • Suicide awareness/ mental health
  • Anti- Bully

Some of the guest speakers in the past have included Southern Kansas SWAT, Wichita PD Mounted Unit, EagleMed, Crime Scene Investigation, and Blue Line Tracking.

Community participation has been vital to providing this camp for over twenty years.

These are just a few of our many community partners that regularly help with the food for camp:

  • Kiwanis
  • Kristye Davis
  • Early Birds Lions Club
  • Optimists
  • Soroptimist
