ACPD Plan Extra Car Show Patrol

The Arkansas City Police Department will conduct a saturation patrol on Saturday, September 27, 2025, immediately following the Last Run Car Show. Officers will place special emphasis on identifying and removing impaired drivers from the roadway.

The Last Run Car Show is one of the city’s largest annual events, drawing big crowds and bringing heavier traffic to Arkansas City. With the added activity, law enforcement is taking proactive steps to help keep residents and visitors safe.

As part of the festivities, the traditional car cruise will take place on Summit Street between Kansas Avenue and Madison Avenue. This section of Summit will be closed to traffic from 4:45 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Extra officers will be on duty throughout the evening to help ensure public safety.

“Our goal is simple: to keep everyone safe,” said Captain Jason Legleiter. “We want people to come out, enjoy the event, and make memories with family and friends. But if you choose to drink, please make the right choice: use a designated driver, call a ride, or make other safe arrangements.”

In addition to DUI enforcement, officers will also be watching for other unsafe driving behaviors, including speeding, seat belt violations, and distracted driving.

The Arkansas City Police Department reminds everyone: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
