Three arrested in vandalism incident

Several reports of vehicle vandalism in Arkansas City led to law enforcement officials arresting three individuals, one adult and two juveniles.

On January 17, 2024, the Arkansas City Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle that appeared to have food poured over it in the 100 block of North 2nd Street. When officers spoke to the vehicle's owner, they discovered that the vandalism happened overnight. There were also other unknown substances on the vehicle.

Officers later began receiving multiple reports from residents in Arkansas City that their vehicles had also been struck with eggs or covered in other substances believed to be food items.

During the investigation, officers identified a suspect vehicle and three suspects: one adult male and two juvenile males.

Later, officers located one of the juvenile suspects. He was questioned about the incident and was arrested.

Officers then located the possible suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, during which they contacted the driver, Tanner Sparks, 19, of Arkansas City, and a juvenile male. Both subjects were arrested.

Sparks was charged with disorderly conduct and contributing to a child's misconduct. A bond was set for $1,500.

Two teenagers, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male from Arkansas City, were charged with disorderly conduct. They have been released to the custody of a guardian.

A court of law determines a suspect's guilt or innocence.
