ACPD Urges Drivers To Buckle Up This Thanksgiving

Beginning Saturday, November 18, through Monday, November 26, 2023, the Arkansas City Police Department will join many other law enforcement agencies across the state, including the Kansas Highway Patrol, in the Kansas Thanksgiving Safe Arrival Traffic Enforcement Campaign.

While all Kansas traffic laws will be rigorously enforced, it's important to note that additional measures will be actively implemented by law enforcement specifically targeting seatbelt laws. Compliance with seatbelt regulations during this period is of utmost importance and will be actively monitored.

“Every time you buckle up, you’re not just securing a seat belt but safeguarding a life. Seat belts are more than straps and buckles; they are your shield on the road. They can be the difference between a minor incident and a tragedy in a crash. So, before you get on the road, remember buckling up isn’t just a rule; it’s a commitment to your safety and those around you. Seat belts save lives – make it a habit, not a choice,” Arkansas City Police Department Lieutenant Detective Jason Legleiter said. “Buckle up. Your friends and family are counting on you to arrive safely this thanksgiving. Click it. Don’t risk it.”
